U-14s v Mayo Gaels – Match Report
Davitts U-14 team qualified for the South Mayo B Final after beating Mayo Gaels by 8-14 to 2-5 in the semi-final played in Ballindine on Thursday evening.
Davitts got off to a blistering start and early goals from Jack Melvin and Cathal Corless (2) set them on their way to a comfortable victory. Davitts led by 6-8 to 1-3 at the break after further scores from Jack Melvin (2-1), Bon Glynn (1-1), Cathal Corless (0-4) and Dylan Gallagher (0-2).
Davitts ran their bench in the second half as further scores were added via Dylan Gallagher (0-2), Cathal Devane (0-2), Cathal Corless (1-0), Bon Glynn (1-0), Jack Melvin (0-1) and Harry Fallon (0-1).
Dylan O Brien was, as usual, an excellent keeper. Conor Feerick, Mark Birmingham, Sean Meehan, Sean Keadin and Ian Prendergast formed a very tight defence. Dylan Gallagher and Bon Glynn played very well at midfield while up front Jack Melvin and Cathal Corless were on fire notching 6-6 between them with considerable assistance from the superb Conor McDermott, Cathal Devane and Fionn McLoughlin.
Subs Harry Fallon, Ronan Kelly, Ethan Boyle, Ciaran Treacy, Fionn McTigue, Ryan Rattigan and Darragh Garvey all played their parts in a fine victory.
