2015 Membership – Due Now

Thanks to all who have already paid their membership for 2015. The list of people / families who have purchased Adult Membership or the Mayo €100 tickets will be published on the website in the coming weeks. The first €100 Mayo ticket draw is due to take place at the end of April, so there is still time to purchase a ticket.

Membership can be secured by paying €50 (adult) or by purchasing a €100 Development Draw ticket. The €100 ticket covers a full family membership (two adults + their children who are in full time education).

Membership entitles members to:

  • 1) Membership of the club
  • 2) Full voting rights at AGM (for members age 18 and over)
  • 3) Entry in to six Mayo Development Draws with prizes in excess of €100,000 (if €100 ticket is purchased)
  • 4) Access to injury fund (for players)

Officials, players, management teams and supporters who purchase the tickets are directly helping your club as once our quota of tickets is reached (65), Davitts GAA keeps 90% of ticket sales thereafter. The funds generated from the sale of these tickets forms a huge part of our club’s fundraising efforts, and is particularly critical this year due to the clubhouse development currently underway.

It is important to note that only members are guaranteed to be considered during ticket allocation for All Ireland finals.

Any membership enquiries should be directed to Ronan Kirrane (087-9520169), Frank Hyland (087-7806124), Michael Waldron (087-6800808) or Sean Higgins (086-1984588).

Your support is greatly appreciated.

Claremorris, clinical in attack, defeated Davitts in the Michael Walsh League Quarter Final, played in windy Claremorris on Sunday. The exchanges were closer than the final scoreline suggests but it was Claremorris who deservedly advanced to play Garrymore in the Semi Final.

Seniors v Ballintubber – Match Report

Davitts 1-5 Ballintubber 3-2

Davitts, already through to the quarter finals, hosted the county champions Ballintubber on Sunday in Round 3 of the Michael Walsh Senior League, and were beaten by three points after a hard slog in difficult conditions.

Ballintubber, playing with the wind in the first half, led by 2-1 to 1-3 at halftime. Davitts points came from the boots of Andrew Peters, Liam Kearns and Josh Ronayne while the goal was scored from the penalty spot via Andrew Peters, after he was fouled. Both of the Ballintubber goals came from defensive errors.

An early second half point from Josh Ronayne put the sides level but the dismissal of Davitts wing back Martin Cosgrove swung the game back in the visitors favour. Ballintubber used their experience well with the extra man and when they scored another goal with fifteen minutes remaining they never looked like losing. Both sides could only manage a point each in the final quarter.

Davitts: David Mitchell, Tommy Nolan, Padraig Mangan, Donal Ronayne, William Freeley, Cathal Higgins, Martin Cosgrove, Sean Waldron, Michael Waldron, Cathal Hennelly, Thomas Waldron, Liam Kearns (0-1), Josh Ronayne (0-3), Andrew Peters (1-1), Colm Roche. Seniors v Ballina Stephenites – Match Report

Davitts 2-6 Ballina Stephenites 0-11

Davitts and Ballina served up an entertaining match in this Michael Walsh Senior League tie played in testing conditions in Ballindine on Sunday. Davitts just about deserved the victory and two well taken first half goals by Ronan McNamara were the difference between the two sides.

Ballina began brightly and raced into a three point lead before the lively Cathal Hennelly opened the Davitts account with a well taken point. McNamara’s first goal came in the eighth minute flicking Liam Kearns long delivery past David Clarke to give the homeside a lead they never surrendered. Another McNamara goal five minutes later gave Davitts a nice cushion and they went in 2-4 to 0-5 ahead at the break with Josh Ronayne (2) and Liam Kearns completing the tally.

Ballina came out firing in the second half and they took the game to Davitts. They reduced the lead to the minimum with twelve minutes remaining. Davitts were struggling now but a fine Ronan McNamara point lifted the siege. Ballina pointed and this was cancelled out by Sean Waldron. Ballina got the final score of the match as the overworked Davitts defence held out.

Outstanding for Davitts were Tommy Nolan, Donal Ronayne, Cathal Higgins, Sean Waldron, Matthew Trench, Josh Ronayne, Ronan McNamara and Cathal Hennelly.

Davitts: David Mitchell, Donal Ronayne, Tommy Nolan, John Clarke, Martin Cosgrove, Cathal Higgins, James Cummins, Sean Waldron (0-1), Michael Waldron, Matthew Trench, Josh Ronayne (0-2), Liam Kearns (0-1), Mark Ronayne, Ronan McNamara (2-1), Cathal Hennelly (0-1). Subs used: Michael Mangan, Andrew Peters, William Freeley, Shane Mitchell and Tommy Clarke.
