U-14 League – Ballinrobe v Davitts

The U-14 team got back to winning ways with a 10-15 to 9-3 victory over Ballinrobe in an amazing contest in Ballinrobe on Thursday last. Davitts led by ten points at halftime but four quick-fire goals put Ballinrobe in front ten minutes into the second half. Davitts recovered well though, playing some sparkling football, and ran out convincing winners.

Outstanding for Davitts were Padraig Mangan, Jonathon Fahy, Donal Ronayne, Michael Clarke, Liam Noone, Tommy Waldron and man of the match Matthew Trench. Davitts lined out as follows: Michael Mangan, Liam Connolly, William Freeley, Jonathon Fahy, Padraig Mangan, John Huane, Donal Ronayne, Thomas Charles, Michael Clarke, Shane Cummins, Matthew Trench, Liam Noone, Tommy Waldron.

U-14 – Match Reports

The under 14 team had a hard earned home win over a gallant Moy Davitts team last Sunday evening. The testing conditions made it very difficult to play good football and the final scoreline of 1-7 to 1-4 proved how difficult it was to get scores as both sets of defences came out on top. The real turning point of the game came with ten minutes remaining, when substitute Gerard Griffin, who was very impressive when introduced, gathered a long clearance and goaled from 25 metres, to put Davitts into a two point lead. Others to shine for Davitts were Padraig and Michael Mangan, William Freeley, Liam Connolly, Jonathon Fahy, the excellent Donal Ronayne, Thomas Charles, Liam Noone and Matthew Trench.

This team’s unbeaten league run was ended by a strong St. Gerards outfit in Ballindine on Friday evening, going down by 4-11 to 2-10 in a cracking game. St. Gerards were always marginally the better team, and in Stephen Coen (who ironically, learned his football at Ballindine N.S.) they had the game’s outstanding performer. Davitts had excellent performances from the Mangan twins Michael and Padraig, William Freeley, Liam Connolly, Johnny Huane, Thomas Charles, Michael Clarke, Matthew Trench and livewire centre forward Tommy Waldron who scored 2-4.
