U-21’s v Kiltane – U-21 B Football Championship
Davitts U-21 team made the long trip to Bangor on Tuesday evening and drew with Kiltane in a very exciting game. Davitts made all the early running and led by 1-6 to 0-4 at half time with centre forward Keith Prendergast scoring five excellent long range points and county minor Josh Ronayne scoring 1-1. Shane Mitchell was a powerful figure at midfield, getting good support from John Heneghan, and things were looking good for Davitts.
Kiltane however came storming back into the game in the second half and scored five unanswered points to draw level before Josh Ronayne got the score of the game, bursting through the Kiltane defence, playing a one two with Fergal McGrath before crashing a powerful shot to the Kiltane net. Richie Kilkenny pointed to put four between them going in to the final minutes of the game but the hosts responded with a point and a late goal to tie the game.
Indeed Kiltane would have won the game but for some smart goalkeeping by Paddy Kirrane, and two superb goal line clearances by Johnno Clarke and Mark Ronayne. Davitts best players in this game were Paddy Kirrane, Kevin Gallagher, Mark Ronayne, Shane Mitchell, Michael Waldron, Keith Prendergast and Josh Ronayne.
