U-21’s v Kilmaine – Match Report

Davitts 2-14 | Kilmaine 1-9

Davitts U-21 team defeated Kilmaine in Kilmaine on Tuesday evening in the first round of the Brennan Cup. The final score was 2-14 to 1-9 after an entertaining game played in perfect conditions.

Kilmaine started off brightly and led by 1-2 to 0-1 after ten minutes. Davitts settled then and five points by Liam Noone, one each from Thomas Waldron and Cathal Higgins and a superb goal finished by Gerald Griffin left Davitts ahead by 1-7 to 1-3 at halftime.

Davitts had to rely on some outstanding saves by goalie David Mitchell to keep them in control. Noone kept on scoring at will while Gerald Griffin was outstanding throughout and he added another goal ten minutes from the end to wrap the game up. Thomas Waldron and captain Darren Connolly (2) got the other second half points.

Donal Ronayne and Jack Rodgers were in top form in defence, Sean Waldron won an awful lot of ball at midfield and Liam Noone and Gerald Griffin would both have valid claims to be man of the match.
