U-21s V Hollymount Carramore–Match Report

Davitts U-21 team were knocked out of the Brennan Cup by Hollymount Carramore in Ballindine on Monday. After trailling by 2-4 to 0-4 at halftime, the visitors went on to win by 0-14 to 2-4 after an impressive second half display.

Davitts looked good in the first half and goals from Ryan McLoughlin and Liam Macken and points from Evan Ronane (2), Liam Macken and Stephen Nyland accounted for their first half (and final) tally.

After the break, Hollymound Carramore began to take over in the midfield exchanges which saw the home defence under severe pressure and the attack having to survive on a very limited supply of ball.

With the sides level, Davitts lost Ciaran Fahy to a second yellow card in the 51st minute and team captain Evan Ronane to a black card three minutes later and the visitors capitalised, shooting four points before the end of the game.

Not many Davitts players played well in this game and a huge improvement is required against both Ballyhaunis and Ballinrobe in the final two County Championship group matches.

Davitts: Dean Moran, Ciaran Fahy, Tom Corless, Aidan Macken, Dmitry Trench, Jordan Flanagan, Cian Naughton, Daniel Huane, Liam Macken (1-1), Jack Ronayne, Evan Ronane (0-2), Ryan McLoughlin (1-0), Stephen Nyland (0-1). Subs used: Niall Treacy, Zak Keadin, James Ruane.
