U-21’s through to County C Final
Davitts U-21 team qualified for the County C Final after a hard earned victory over Kilmaine in Garrymore on Friday evening. Davitts won by 0-20 to 3-6, an outstanding display of shooting by the razor sharp attack ensuring the victory.
Davitts, playing with the breeze in the first half were sluggish and were it not for some excellent goalkeeping by team captain David Mitchell, some awful shooting from the Kilmaine lads and the intervention of the woodwork, would have found themselves in arrears at the break. However, the Davitts forwardline slung over some excellent scores to lead by 0-8 to 0-3 at halftime.
In the second half Kilmaine threw everything they could have at Davitts but Donal
and Mark Ronayne, Jason Connolly, Brian Clarke, William Freeley and the impressive Cathal Higgins were superb in defence as Michael and Sean Waldron performed heroics at midfield to ensure a plentiful supply of ball to a most impressive attacking unit. Kilmaine hit three killer goals in that second half but Davitts replied to each goal, scoring superb points, showing admirable character.
Some of Davitts forward play involving Thomas Waldron, Josh Ronayne, Clive Hennigan, Tommy Clarke, Darren Connolly and excellent sub Liam Noone was a delight to behold but more will be required to secure a county title.
