U-16’s v Hollymount/Carramore – South Mayo B Championship
Davitts U-16 team put the disappointment of their defeat in the County final behind them when they defeated Hollymount/Carramore emphatically, 4-17 to 1-4, in the South Mayo Championship in Carramore on Tuesday evening. Davitts had built up a 3-9 to 1-1 lead by halftime, dominating in all sectors and the three superbly executed goals came from Richie O Connor, Evan Ronayne and centre back Michael Mangan.
Davitts didn’t take the foot off the pedal in the second half with Padraig Mangan and Jack Rodgers dominating the midfield exchanges and the attack looking very sharp. Rodgers scored the fourth goal with five minutes remaining.
This was a polished display by the Davitts team. Thomas Monaghan produced a few top class saves. Dylan Keadin and Dylan Higgins gave nothing away soft in the fullbackline. The half backs Seanie Bourke, Michael Mangan and Denis Óg Fahy attacked at every opportunity. In the forwardline, Cathal Hennelly had an excellent game with Mikie Devane, Gerald Griffin, Evan Ronayne and Richie O Connor linking up cleverly and some of the scores they produced were top class.
