U-15 v Achill match report
Achill U-15’s made the long trip to Ballindine on Tuesday evening to take on Davitts in Division 5 of the league, but went home empty handed, as Davitts prevailed by 6-17 to 5-5 after an entertaining game.
Davitts led by 2-9 to 1-2 at half time, the goals were both well taken by Aaron O Dea. Both teams managed to hit the back of the net on four occasions in the second half, Davitts goalscorers were Aaron Conneely Basham, Adam Rattigan and Dylan Gormley (2). Achill fought really hard, particularly in the second half and Davitts had to play well to collect the two league points.
Ronan Hett pulled off some fine saves in goals with Tadhg Feerick (0-1) and Sean Clarke (0-1) very impressive in defence ably assisted by Jason Boyle, Cillian Kearns and Pierce Diskin.
Noah O Brien (0-2) and Aaron Conneely Basham (1-6) were in superb form at midfield.
Up front, Dylan Gormley (2-0) and Aaron O Dea (2-4) led the way with Luke Rattigan (0-2), Peter Kilkenny (0-1) and Adam Rattigan (1-0) completing a hard-working and clinical forwardline.
Well done to the referees, Derek Byrne and Johnny Burke who officiated after a non-show by the appointed ref. Derek looked more than comfortable in the job, refereeing with a style that drew comparisons with David Gough, Mike Dean and Nigel Owens.
