U-14’s v Tourmakeady – Match Report
On Thursday evening the U-14’s staged a fantastic comeback to defeat Tourmakeady by 5-6 to 2-12. This league game was played in Tourmakeady, and the locals led by 1-6 to 1-4 at halftime. They added a further 1-2 in the opening minutes of the second half to extend their lead to 8 points, but the switching of Davitts star player Evan Ronayne from centre back to midfield swung the game dramatically.
This was a super all round team display with Andrei Trench solid in goals. Denis Og and Ciaran Fahy, Cathal Moran and Christopher Ryan defended well. Francis Griffin (0-1) and the very impressive Kieran Waldron worked hard at midfield. In attack Shane Treacy (1-2) and Kelan Cosgrove (1-2) were outstanding, getting great support from Daniel Huane (1-0), Jack Ronayne and Jamie Mullee. On this occasion though, the star player was Evan Ronayne (2-1), a young player with enormous potential.
