U-14’s v Moy Davitts – Match Report

The Neale 1-11  Davitts 1-12

The Neale and Davitts served up a cracking O Mara Cup tie in Cong on Saturday with Davitts coming out on top by a point at the end of a very competitive game. Davitts started off brightly and points from Josh Ronayne and Liam Kearns had them  ahead after five minutes. The Neale responded well and took the lead with four unanswered points. Davitts lost their influential midfielder Ronan McNamara through injury early in the game to add to an already long injury list. Michael Conroy was proving to be a key figure at centre half forward though, and he, Keith Prendergast, Thomas Waldron and Josh Ronayne all pointed before the interval to leave the sides level, 0-6 apiece, at halftime.

The second half was played at a furious pace and it was tit for tat before Davitts outstanding midfielder Josh Ronayne hammered home his side’s only goal ten minutes into the half. Thomas Waldron added a point to put Davitts four ahead but The Neale fought back bravely. They goaled themselves and shot an equalising point as it looked like the game might end up in deadlock. Michael Conroy however had the last say with an excellent winning point from way out, to give Davitts a hard earned win.

Best for Davitts were Colm Roche, Kevin Gallagher, James Cummins, Josh Ronayne, Michael Conroy, Matthew Trench, Thomas Waldron and man of the match Liam Kearns.
