U-14s v Hollymount-Carramore–South B Final Replay – Match Report
Davitts U-14’s lost the replay of the South Mayo B final to Hollymount-Carramore in Claremorris last Saturday. The final scoreline of 5-12 to 3-11 to Hollycarra was harsh on the Davitts lads as with less than ten minutes left in the game there was only one point separating the sides. Hollycarra finished very strongly however and a late scoring blast yielding 3-3 rocked Davitts.
Hollycarra were five points ahead at the break, 3-7 to 2-5 with Davitts scores coming from Jack Melvin who fired in the two goals and points from Dylan Gallagher (2), Cathal Corless (2) and Harry Fallon.
Davitts started the second half well and points from Dylan Gallagher and Cathal Corless and a cracking Conor McDermott goal had the sides on parity after 8 minutes. Hollycarra landed two points in the 11th and 12th minute. Cathal Corless pulled one back for Davitts in the 19th minute but while Davitts were on top at this stage, some wayward shooting let them down as Hollycarra produced a grandstand finish to take the title. Davitts shot three very late points through Cathal Corless, Bon Glynn and Sean Keadin.
Davitts had fine performers in Mark Birmingham, Sean Keadin, Ian Prendergast, Bon Glynn, Dylan Gallagher, Conor McDermott, Jack Melvin and Cathal Corless.
