U-14’s v Carras – Match Report
Davitts U-14 team played hosts to near neighbours Carras in the County U-14 League Semi-Final on Thursday evening and coasted into the final after a 12-16 to 1-8 victory. Davitts had raced into a 7-9 to 1-4 lead by halftime with some fine goals from Joe Prendergast, Zack Keadin (2), Jack Devane (3) and Jack Trench. More goals followed in the second half with Jack Devane firing home two more, and Charlie Phillips, Jack Trench and a John Wallace humdinger (followed by an exuberant celebration) completing the goal tally.
While Davitts did win by a wide margin, this margin would have been a lot less but for the tremendous defending of the outstanding Michael Hett, Brian Og McTigue, Fionan Gallagher, Thomas Ronayne and Charlie Phillips and the goalkeeping of Gavin Ring. Fentan Kelly had a great game at midfield with Sean Feerick, John Wallace and Davy Hennessy all working hard beside him over the course of the game. Jack Devane, Zack Keadin, Niall Treacy, Jack Trench and Joe Prendergast linked up impressively in attack with subs Stephen Rattigan, Dylan Walsh and Brian Birmingham getting in on the act when they were introduced.
Davitts will now meet Charlestown in the final.
