U-14s v Ballintubber – Match Report
Davitts U-14 side kicked off their Mayo Div 3 League campaign with a fine 2-9 to 1-4 win over Ballintubber in Ballindine on Thursday evening. Davitts led throughout the match but had to work hard for their victory over a gallant Ballintubber team.
Dylan Gallagher opened the scoring with an early point and a tenth minute goal from powerful full forward Harry Fallon, after a sweeping passing move, settled his side down. Further points from Fallon (2) and Sean Keadin saw Davitts take a 1-4 to 0-2 lead into the half time break.
The exchanges were tight in the second half and Davitts had added on three points from Sean Keadin before Dylan Gallagher rifled home his side’s second goal to put the game beyond Ballintubber’s reach. Harry Fallon and Sean Keadin added two more points before the finish as their side got off to a winning start.
In Dylan O Brien, Davitts have a very capable goalkeeper while in front of him, Ethan Boyle, Aaron Trench and Ben Corless defended magnificently. The half backline of Brian Hett, Sean Meehan and Conor Feerick competed well, making life very tough for the Tubber attackers. Mark Birmingham and Sean Keadin (0-5) formed a solid midfield partnership. Up front Harry Fallon (1-3) and Dylan Gallagher (1-1) did the scoring damage but they got great assistance from the tireless work of Conor McDermott, Ronan Kelly, Finn McLoughlin, Ruadhan O Conaire, Ciaran Treacy and Fionn McTigue.
