U-14’s v Ballinrobe – Match Report

Davitts and Ballinrobe played a thrilling U-14 league match in Ballindine on Thursday evening with the home side prevailing on an 8-4 to 2-16 scoreline. Ballinrobe set the early running and led by 0-11 to 2-2 at halftime. The two goals by Evan Ronayne and Daniel Huane really kept Davitts in the game and the homeside were lucky to be only three points down at the interval.

The second half proved to be a dramatic affair with the Davitts forwards showing that goals do win matches, while at the other end of the field the excellent Caelainn Mullee was performing heroics in goals and Cathal Moran and Ciaran Fahy defending superbly, ably assisted by John Kilkenny, Aidan Macken, Ryan McLoughlin and Francis Griffin. Further goals by the outstanding Ronayne (2), (later to be harshly dismissed following a second yellow card), Cian Naughton, the hard working Jamie Mullee, Keelan Cosgrove and a delightful lob by Huane ensured victory for the Davitts boys.

Andre Trench and Cian Treacy were in great form too in the lively Davitts forwardline while Jack Ronayne had a tremendous game at midfield. Well done to the Ballinrobe team for playing their part in a very entertaining game.
