U-14 v Kiltimagh match report

Davitts 3-12  Kiltimagh 8-11

Davitts U-14 team were defeated by a fine Kiltimagh outfit in the Div 5 League Quarter final played in Ballindine on Monday evening.

Davitts led by 3-7 to 3-6 at halftime after a very well contested first half.  Aaron O Dea (1-3), Adam Rattigan (1-0), Mairtin Elizari (1-0), Blake Bradley (0-2), Odhran O Connaire (0-1) and Malachy Devane (0-1) were the Davitts first half scorers. The homeside’s chances were not helped by an arm injury to wing back Pierce Diskin forcing his withdrawl.

The physically stronger Kiltimagh team took the game by the scruff of the neck in the second half and the added five goals and four points to their tally while the home side could only manage five points courtesy of Aaron O Dea (4) and Malachy Devane. The Davitts lads never stopped trying and in fairness, they played some lovely football over the course of the game.

There was very little that Adam Sheridan could do to stop most of the Kiltimagh goals and he made some fine saves in the second half. Evan Kenny at full back looks a fine prospect with Jack Brogan and the tigerish Cathal Cummins competing well. Odhran O Connaire (0-1) had a fine game at centre back, getting good support from Tom Roche and Pierce Diskin on the wings. Aaron O Dea (1-7) and Mairtin Elizari (1-0) played very well at midfield. Cormac Devane, Malachy Devane (0-2) and Blake Bradley (0-2) displayed great workrate and skill on the half forward line while Daniel Connelly, Adam Rattigan (1-0), Niall McDermott, Tadhg Kirrane and Carraig Kilkenny all worked tirelessly.
