Davitts 6-15 Erris St. Pats 4-8
Davitts proved too strong for Erris St. Pats in the U-14 E Shield semi-final played in Ballindine on Monday evening. A very strong second half display by the homeside saw them advance to the final after a very well contested first half.
Davitts, with Malachy Devane and Aaron O Dea playing superbly at midfield and getting good support from Tom Roche and Shaun Burke, led by three points at halftime, 3-7 to 3-4. Blake Bradley, a threat throughout, shot two of the goals with Malachy Devane firing home the third. Points from Blake Bradley, Malachy Devane, Adam Rattigan (3), Odhran O Connaire and Aaron O Dea completed Davitts first half total.
An early second half goal finished by the crafty Tadhg Kirrane put Davitts six ahead but the Erris lads replied with a goal and a point in the 32nd and 33rd minutes. Davitts driven on by the excellent Aaron O Dea and Odhran O Connaire now began to get on top. They shot points through Adam Rattigan, Odhran O Connaire, Aaron O Dea and a second Tadhg Kirrane goal to go eight points up with the game entering the final quarter. Three points in the 45th, 47th and 48th minutes from the battling Erris lads cut the deficit to five but Davitts finished the game really well. The very accurate Adam Rattigan scored two more points, Odhran O Connaire fired over a classy long range effort and Aaron O Dea shot a goal and two points as Davitts advanced to the final where they will play Westport B.
