U-13 v Erris St. Pats match report

Davitts U-13’s made it two wins out of three with a 7-19 to 4-3 win over Erris St Pats in Ballindine on Thursday evening.

The Erris boys showed no ill effects after their long journey and got off to a good start. They led by 1-2 to 0-2 after eight minutes. Davitts, with Aaron Conneely-Basham and Aaron O Dea getting on top at midfield, began to come to grips with their opponents and by half time they had built up a 3-8 to 2-2 lead.

The greasy conditions made it difficult to play good football but all credit to both teams who played with great enthusiasm throughout the game. Davitts, sharper in attack, pulled away in the end but the game was not nearly as one sided as the scoreline suggests.

Loughlin Derby was solid in the Davitts goals with the tigerish Adam Rattigan, Jack Brogan, Oran McTigue and Ramin Habibi, who had a stormer, in top form in defence. The two Aarons, O Dea and Conneely-Basham were excellent at midfield and together with the Devane brothers Matthew and Cormac, Odhran O Connaire and Luke Rattigan kept the scoreboard operator busy throughout the game. Ronan Hett, a six goal hero in the last game, sat this one out except for a five minute cameo role towards the end of the game.

Keep up the good work lads and the management team of David Mitchell, Joe O Dea, Colm O Connaire and Thomas Corless.
