Seniors v Mayo Gaels and Minors v Louisburgh – Match Reports

Davitts 2-10 Louisburgh 0-3.

Davitts Minors got back to winning ways with a fine victory over Louisburgh in Ballindine on Sunday. Davitts made full use of the strong wind in the first half and led by 2-8 to 0-2 at halftime with Richie O Connor and Shane Treacy getting the two goals.

The expected Louisburgh fightback never materialised as Davitts defended magnificently in the second half with Michael Mangan, Dylan Keadin and Dylan Higgins in top form.
This was a fine team performance with every player playing their part in an important win.

Davitts: Thomas Monaghan, Dylan Keadin, Dylan Higgins, Denis Fahy, Michael Mangan, Patrick Keadin (0-1), Padraig Mangan, Jack Rodgers (0-1), Richie O Connor (1-0), Gerald Griffin (0-1), Evan Ronayne (0-2), Cathal Hennelly (0-4), Shane Treacy (1-1).

Subs used: Seanie Bourke, Jamie Mullee, Conor Macken.

Davitts 0-5 Mayo Gaels 2-5.

A much sharper and hungrier Mayo Gaels side came to Ballindine on Sunday and deservedly beat a lethargic Davitts team in the first round of the O Mara Cup. Davitts never really looked like winning this game and, but for some erratic shooting by the visitors, would have been beaten by a lot more.

Mark Ronayne, Kevin Gallagher, James Cummins and Matthew Trench fought hard throughout in what, from a Davitts viewpoint, was a very disappointing performance.

Davitts: Adrian McNamara, Mark Ronayne, Cathal Higgins, Kevin Gallagher, James Cummins, Colm Roche, Lawrence Daly, Josh Ronayne (0-2), Keith Prendergast (0-2), Seamus Roche, Paul Carey, Matthew Trench (0-1), Thomas Waldron, Fearghal McGrath, Liam Kearns.

Subs used: Ronan McNamara, Darren Connolly, Padraig Mangan, Jack Rodgers.
