Seniors v Kilmaine – Match Report
Davitts 1-13 Kilmaine 1-12.
Davitts got the better of Kilmaine in this O Mara Cup tie played in tropical conditions in Ballindine on Sunday. The very youthful Davitts boys played some excellent football in a well contested game that was up for grabs right up to the final whistle.
A tit for tat first half saw the sides level at 0-6 each at the break. Points from Cathal Hennelly, Matthew Trench, Andrew Peters, Liam Kearns and Josh Ronayne (2) accounted for Davitts first half tally.
Davitts started to edge the game after the restart with midfielders Josh Ronayne and Michael Waldron on top of their game. Points from Liam Kearns (2), Thomas Waldron, Josh Ronayne (2), Andrew Peters and Matthew Trench had Davitts ahead by 0-13 to 0-10 with ten minutes remaining. A superb Thomas Waldron goal seemed to have sealed the game but a late salvo by the gallant visitors, yielding 1-2, meant that Davitts just hung on to a merited victory.
