Seniors v Hollymount Carramore – Match Report
Hollymount Carramore 3-8 Davitts 2-5
Hollymount Carramore hosted Davitts in the O Mara Cup on Sunday and defeated the visitors by 3-8 to 2-5 after a well contested game. The home side possessed a much sharper forwardline and after conceding three first half goals, Davitts were always chasing the game.
Hollycarra had 1-1 on the board before the influential Josh Ronayne netted for Davitts. Another goal from the locals helped to stretch their lead but Davitts stayed in touch with points from Josh Ronayne, Aidan McTigue and Liam Noone. Hollycarra netted a third goal late on in the half to go in at the break with a 3-4 to 1-3 lead.
While Davitts enjoyed plenty of possession in the second half some wayward passing and shooting didn’t help their cause. They did score a fine goal through their excellent young wing back Dimitry Trench, who finished emphatically after a fine run. Two Josh Ronayne points completed Davitts tally as the homeside ran out deserving winners.
Best for Davitts were Patrick Keadin, Cathal Higgins, Lawrence Daly, Dimitry Trench, William Freeley and Josh Ronayne.
