Breaffy proved much too strong for a battling Davitts team in this Mayo Senior Championship match played in difficult conditions in Claremorris on Saturday. Breaffy, wind assisted in the first half, got off to a flying start with two points from Aidan O Shea in the opening two minutes. Evan Ronane pulled one back for Davitts before Tommy O Reilly and Matthew Ruane points extended Breaffy’s lead. Josh Ronayne pointed for Davitts in the 9^th minute but then Breaffy took complete control for the remainder of the half.

Points from Conor O Shea (3), Tommy O Reilly, Aidan O Shea, Michael Hall and Robert Fadden saw Breaffy leading by 0-11 to 0-2 at halftime.

Conor O Shea and Tommy O Reilly shot the first two points of the second half with Ronan McNamara replying for Davitts in the eighth minute. There then followed a barren twelve minute period as Davitts defended resolutely as the exchanges got tougher. A number of players from both sides were shown yellow cards by referee Michael Daly. Josh Ronayne shot the next two points for Davitts in the 20^th and 25^th minutes but Breaffy finished very strongly with three long range frees converted by Robert Hennelly and a Tommy O Reilly point from play.

The result sees Breaffy through to the Quarter Final while Davitts are in a relegation dogfight.

Best for Breaffy were Robert Hennelly, Michael Hall, Colm Kelly, Peter Dravins, Aidan O Shea, Tommy O Reilly and Conor O Shea.

Davitts were best served by the excellent Colm Boyle, Patrick Keadin, Padraig Mangan, Paul Carey, Ronan McNamara, Josh Ronayne and Evan Ronane.
