Seniors v Bonniconlon – Match Report
Davitts travelled to Bonniconlon on Saturday evening in the Senior League Div 3 and after an exciting match the spoils were shared, the final score 0-13 each.
The home side started the better and wind assisted they had built up an interval lead of 0-8 to 0-5. Davitts point scorers in the first half were Evan Ronane, Michael Conroy, Josh Ronayne (2) and Ronan McNamara. The Davitts defending was rather hesitant and nervy in that half as the home side piled on the pressure.
Davitts, with team captain Ronan McNamara leading by example, came to grips with their opponents after the break and early points from Josh Ronayne and two monster frees from Ronan McNamara had them within a point of their hosts. Both teams traded points as the play swung from end to end. Points from Ronan McNamara and Evan Ronane levelled the game as it entered the final quarter. Josh Ronayne and Sean Waldron added two more points before the end as Bonniconlon fired over a late equaliser to get the draw which was hard earned by both sides.
Best for Davitts were man of the match Ronan McNamara, Cathal Higgins (2nd half), Padraig Mangan, Cathal Hennelly and Josh Ronayne.
