Senior League v Lahardane match report
Davitts 1-14 Lahardane 1-12
A strong second half performance from Davitts earned the two Senior League Div 3 points on offer in Ballindine on Sunday after an exciting match against a gallant Lahardane side.
After playing with the assistance of the stiffish wind in the first half, Davitts lead of 0-7 to 0-6 at the break would have given Lahardane great encouragement as they looked the more likely victors at that stage of the match. Davitts first half scores came via Keith Prendergast, Evan Ronane (2), Tommy Waldron, Jack Ronayne and Josh Ronayne (2).
The second half started off in whirlwind style with Davitts pointing three times in the first four minutes through Tommy Waldron, Niall Treacy and Evan Ronane and Lahardane replying with two of their own. A superb Davitts goal in the 37th minute, a tidy finish from Evan Ronane after great work by Micheal Hett and Darragh McGale extended Davitts lead to five points and Jack Ronayne made that six points a minute later.
Lahardane refused to buckle however and a 43rd minute goal and a 45th minute point trimmed Davitts advantage to two points at the second water break. Davitts had to dig deep now but they responded well with three unanswered points from Evan Ronane and Josh Ronayne (2) with five minutes normal time remaining. Again Lahardane came back and shot the final three points of the game in the 57th, 61st and 65th minutes but they could not find a way through to get the goal they needed.
Davitts best in this game were Kieran Fahy, Tommy Waldron, impressive sub Micheal Hett, Josh Ronayne, Jack Ronayne, Niall Treacy and Evan Ronane.
