Senior League Div 4A v Hollycarra match report
Davitts 3-7 Hollymount Carramore 1-5
Davitts began their Senior League Div 4A campaign with a good win over Hollymount Carramore on Sunday in Ballindine. Both sets of defenders were in top form in the first half and it was the visitors that held a slender 1-2 to 1-1 lead at half time. Stephen Nyland got the Davitts point while Davey Hennessy supplied a confident finish for the goal.
Davitts got on top in the second half with Stephen Nyland and sub Michael Waldron winning a lot of possession around midfield and Lawrence Daly, Sean Feerick, Tom Corless and Mark Ronayne impressing along with the man of the match Brian Og McTigue. Goals from Liam Macken, after a sweeping move, and Brian Og McTigue in the opening two minutes of the second half swung the game firmly in Davitts favour. A Hollycarra point in the 35th minute narrowed the deficit to four points but the homeside tagged on points from Tom Corless, Aaron Trench, Stephen Nyland, Brian Og McTigue and Mark Ronayne as they comfortably controlled the second half. Hollycarra pulled two points back in the 56th and 57th minutes and Brian Og McTigue fittingly had the final say with a point two minutes before the final whistle.
