Senior League 3B v Claremorris match report
Claremorris 1-13 Davitts 1-7
This Senior League Div 3B league match in Claremorris on Sunday was a much closer match than the score-line suggests. Indeed with five minutes remaining Davitts were leading by a point but a late scoring burst by the home team, scoring scoring 1-4, saw them take the spoils.
A Keith Prendergast goal and points from Fearghal McGrath (2) and Ronan McNamara saw Davitts lead by 1-3 to 0-5 at the interval. The home team were much more economical up front and they shot the first three points of the second half to lead by two points before Aidan McTigue got a Davitts point in the 47th minute. A Claremorris score in the next minute restored their two point lead but points from Davitts’ Ciaran Treacy (2) and Ronan Kelly saw Davitts back in front after 52 minutes. Claremorris finished the game off impressively and they shot fine points in the 55th, 56th, 58th and 61st minutes while also grabbing a 60th minute goal, capitalising on a Davitts defensive error, to win the game by six points.
