Senior League 3B v Charlestown match report

Davitts 9-11  Charlestown 1-11

Davitts picked up two valuable Senior League Div 3B points on Sunday after a clinical attacking display at home to Charlestown.

Davitts started off in style with the full-forward line of Ciaran Treacy, Michael Conroy and Aidan McTigue getting two points each in the first six minutes before midfielder Cian Naughton buried the first goal in the eighth minute. Michael Conroy pointed again in the 10th minute before a 12th minute Charlestown point opened their account. Johnno Clarke pointed in the 15th minute and two well taken goals from Michael Conroy and Brian Clarke followed in quick succession before Charlestown got their second point in the 20th minute. Two more well-crafted goals from the home-side followed in the next three minutes with Ciaran Treacy and Johnno Clarke supplying the finishes. Charlestown pointed again in the 25th minute but Ronan Kelly ended the half with Davitts’ sixth goal to put his side ahead by 6-9 to 0-3 at half-time.

Charlestown were a much improved side after the break and and they scored 1-8 in that half but Davitts’ points from Cian Naughton and Jack Devane and three more goals via Aidan McTigue (2) and Jack Devane, completed the home team’s handsome tally on a day when everything seemed to come off for them while the visitors had no luck whatsoever.
