Senior League 3B v Breaffy match report
Breaffy 1-7 Davitts 1-14
Davitts travelled to Breaffy on Friday evening to take on the Senior League Div 3B table-topping home side and came away with the two points after an impressive display.
Breaffy took the lead with a second minute point but three Darragh McGale points in the 4th, 5th and 7th minutes put the wind-assisted visitors two up. An eighth minute point for the hosts was cancelled out by the lively Ciaran Treacy a minute later. Breaffy closed the gap to a single point in the 11th minute but Davitts scores from Fionn McLoughlin, Darragh McGale and marauding wing-back Brian Birmingham extended the lead to four by the twentieth minute of the half. The home team pointed in the 24th minute but Davitts points from Brian Clarke and Fionn McLoughlin saw them lead by 0-9 to 0-4 at the interval.
Two points from Keith Prendergast in the first ten minutes of the second half were matched by Breaffy. Davitts began to take control of the game and after a barren scoring spell, a Brian Clarke in the 55th minute was closely followed by a Ryan McLoughlin goal, after a great move involving Donie Ronayne, Tommy Waldron and Keith Prendergast. A very fortuitous Breaffy goal in the 59th minute and a 60th minute point left six between the sides. Johnno Clarke shot the last score of the game, a 63rd minute point, before referee Jack Ruddy (who had a very good game) blew the final whistle.
There were solid performances all over the field in this game which eases Davitts relegation worries greatly.
