Prendergast Memorial Cup – Match Report
Davitts Senior Team defeated a young Ballyhaunis side, 2-10 to 1-5, in the Prendergast Memorial Cup played in Bekan on Friday night. A strong first half showing paved the way for Davitts victory and they led by 1-7 to 0-2 at the break. Full forward Ronan McNamara scored the goal, a clever flick to the net from a long delivery by Declan Healy. The first half point scorers were Liam Kearns (3), Josh Ronayne (3) and Ronan McNamara.
Ballyhaunis rallied well in the second half and a tenth minute goal narrowed the gap to four points but Evan Ronayne cancelled that out a few minutes later with a superb goal for Davitts to effectively kill the game. Davitts added further points from Keith Prendergast, Andrew Peters and Josh Ronayne to run out eight point winners.
Colm Roche, Padraig Mangan, Andrew Peters, Liam Kearns, Ronan McNamara, Evan Ronayne and Patrick Keadin impressed for Davitts.
