Pete Warren – THANK YOU

Pete Warren

Now that Pete Warren’s three year term with Davitts is complete, the Club would like to thank him for his outstanding achievements with the Senior team during his tenure.

After winning the O Mara Cup and the Michael Walsh Intermediate League, Pete delivered a County Intermediate title in his first year in charge in 2011, defeating Burrishoole on that memorable day in McHale Park. He brought the belief that we could go further and duly delivered a Connaught Title, defeating Roscommon champions Padraig Pearses in the final in Kiltoom, having defeated the favourites Melvin Gaels in Carrick On Shannon in the Semi-Final.

We qualified for the All-Ireland Final with a fantastic victory over Leinster kingpins Eire Og of Greystones in Tullamore on another amazing day for the club. While we fell short in the final we will never forget the fantastic occasion for the parish when a dream was realised and our team took centre stage on the hallowed turf of Croke Park.

Promotion to Division 1A of the Mayo Senior League was also achieved on that memorable season.

We consolidated our position as a Senior team in League and Championship football in the last two years and a lot of exciting young players have made the breakthrough into the Senior team.

Pete also took over the Junior team in his time with the club and we captured the South Mayo title this year for only the second time in the club’s history, a great achievement for a very young squad.

Pete, an absolute gentleman, has made a huge impression on everyone in the Club and we have benefitted greatly from his guidance. We all wish him and his family well in the future. We thank him sincerely for his outstanding effort during his time with us. We would also like to thank John Treacy, Ja Trench and Declan Kirrane, Pete’s three selectors during his term, who gave 100% commitment and contributed greatly in our successes.
