Davitts 0-14 Shrule Glencorrib 2-6
Davitts and Shrule Glencorrib met in the O Mara Cup in Ballindine on Saturday evening with Davitts edging the tie by two points. The game was played in ideal conditions and the issue was in the balance right up to the final whistle.
Davitts led by 0-5 to 1-1 at halftime with both sets of defenders on top. The Davitts scorers in that half were Evan Ronane, Shane Treacy, Liam Kearns (2) and Ronan McNamara.
Davitts outscored Shrule Glencorrib by 0-5 to 0-3 in the third quarter with well taken points from Darragh McGale, Ronan Mac, Shane Treacy, Evan Ronane and Jack Ronayne. Liam Macken could consider himself extremely unlucky in the 42nd minute when he had a superb goal harshly disallowed. This let off seemed to spur Shrule Glencorrib and a 48th minute goal for them levelled the game.
Tommy Waldron and Jack Ronayne shot two points for the homeside but the visitors cancelled them out with two great points in the 57th and 59th minutes. Davitts showed their mettle however and deservedly scored two more points before the final whistle, two brilliant scores from Evan Ronane, to win the game.
Best for Davitts were Patrick Keadin, Tommy Waldron, Aidan and Liam Macken, Liam Kearns, Jack Ronayne and Evan Ronane.
