New Junior C’ship v Aghamore match report
Davitts 1-5 Aghamore 3-9
Aghamore Junior footballers made the trip to Ballindine a fruitful one on Sunday when they defeated Davitts by 3-9 to 1-5 in round two of the Mayo Junior A Championship. Davitts had led by 1-4 to 0-3 at halftime and looked the stronger team in the first half but the visitors played some excellent football in the second half to claim the victory.
A second minute Brian Clarke goal, after good work by Liam Kearns, gave Davitts the dream start and they added points from Fearghal McGrath (2), Fionnan Gallagher and Liam Kearns before the interval and their half time lead of four points was deserved.
After the break Aghamore began to get a grip at midfield and their attack, so well marshalled in the opening period, began to turn on the style. Aghamore outscored Davitts by 3-6 to 0-1 in a clinical second half display.
Davitts best players in this game were Micheal Hett, Lawrence Daly, Padraig Mangan, Tomas Ronayne, Jamie Mullee, Danny Corless, Liam Kearns and Fearghal McGrath.
