Minors v Kiltane – Match Report
Davitts and Kiltane met in the minor league in Ballindine on Friday evening with Davitts victorious by 2-10 to 0-11 after a top quality match. Davitts started quickly with Andrew Peters goaling emphatically in the first minute. The home side led by 1-5 to 0-6 at halftime with Thomas Waldron running riot, scoring four exquisite points from play and Michael Clarke supplying the other.
Kiltane threw everything at Davitts in the second half but the defence held firm with John Macken, Donie Ronayne and Cathal Higgins in outstanding form. The clinching score came in the 22nd minute of the second half when sub Matthew Trench finished a superb Michael Clarke pass to the net in style.
While the whole team played very well, the performances of Macken, Ronayne, Higgins, William Freeley, Peters and Waldron were exceptional in this game. A word of praise must be given to referee Michael Daly who handled the game superbly.
