Minors trounce St. Gerards in League opener
Davitts minor team began their County Minor League Division 3 campaign with a surprisingly comfortable 2-15 to 0-4 victory away to St. Gerards on Friday evening. Davitts were on top in most sectors throughout the game and led by 0-9 to 0-4 at halftime, thanks to an incredibly tenacious defensive unit and all the forwards getting on the scoresheet. Davitts completely dominated the second half and their management team were able to bring on the full complement of subs before the finish of the game.
David Mitchell dealt capably with anything that came his way in the Davitts goals while in front of him, Donie Ronayne and Gerard McWalter excelled in the full back line. The impressive half back line of Jason Connolly, Mark Ronayne and Cathal Higgins were the springboard for numerous Davitts attacks and Sean Waldron and John Macken worked tirelessly at midfield throughout. Andrew Peters, Clive Hennigan, Liam Noone, Tommy Waldron and Darren Connolly linked superbly in the Davitts attack, scoring some delightful scores and mesmerising the St.Gerards defence with their clever movement.
