Minors narrowly Defeated in South ‘B’ Final
Shrule Glencorrib just shaded the South Mayo Minor B Final when recording a 3-7 to 0-15 victory over Davitts in a game played in perfect conditions in Ballinrobe on Friday. This was an exciting game throughout and could have swung either way but three very well taken goals by the Shrule Glencorrib lads meant that Davitts were denied by a single point.
Davitts looked the more likely winners in the first half but should have been further ahead at the break having dominated for long periods in the opening half. Points from Evan Ronayne (6), Shane Treacy (2), Gerald Griffin and Michael Mangan had Davitts ahead by 0-10 to 2-3 at the interval.
Shrule Glencorrib came more into the game after the break and a third goal for them with ten minutes remaining turned the game in their favour and put them two points up for the first time in the game. Davitts fought hard until the end but an Evan Ronayne point was all they could manage in reply.
Patrick Keadin, Jack Rodgers, Michael and Padraig Mangan, Evan Ronayne, Shane Treacy and Gerald Griffin turned in fine performances for Davitts.
