Minor League v Kiltimagh match report
Davitts 1-15 Kiltimagh 2-9
Davitts and Kiltimagh met in the minor league Div 3 in Ballindine on Tuesday evening and they produced a very exciting game that Davitts edged by three points.
Davitts started the game brightly and shot three points in the opening five minutes through Dylan Gallagher, Ronan Kelly and Ciaran Treacy. Kiltimagh replied with a sixth minute goal but Davitts cancelled that out with a fantastic goal two minutes later. Seanie Meehan started the move with a brilliant interception and passed to Conor McDermott who transferred to Dylan Gallagher. Dylan played a slick one two with Ciaran Treacy before smashing home impressively. Davitts extended their lead with further points from Fionn McLoughlin, Ronan Kelly (who had a great game), Brian Corless and Fionn McTigue between the 11th and 17th minutes. Kiltimagh pulled two points back but Fionn McTigue and Dylan Gallagher shot two for Davitts before the visitors gave themselves a much needed boost, firing home their second goal two minutes from the break, to leave Davitts ahead by 1-9 to 2-2 at half time.
Kiltimagh began the second half in whirlwind fashion and points in the 33rd, 35th, 36th and 38th minutes levelled the game. Dylan Gallagher lifted the siege with a much need Davitts point in the 39th minute but Kiltimagh scored two more points to take the lead for the first time as the game entered the final quarter. Davitts rallied very well however and points from Mark Birmingham, who had a superb game at midfield, Fionn McLoughlin, Ronan Kelly and Ciaran Treacy saw them leading by three points with five minutes remaining. Kiltimagh threw everything at the homeside in the last few minutes but the Davitts lads defended heroically as the visitors were restricted to a single point in the 58th minute. Davitts hung on for the next seven minutes and Dylan Gallagher scored the last point of an enthralling game in the fifth minute of injury time.
All of the eighteen players contributed to this very hard earned Davitts win and it’s hard to pick out individuals in what was a real team effort.
