Minor B C’ship v Hollymount Carramore match report
Davitts 5-8 Hollymount Carramore 1-7
Davitts made it three wins from three in the Minor B Championship on Tuesday evening when they defeated an understrength Hollycarra outfit in Garrymore. Davitts have topped group 1 and will play the runners-up from group 2, Balla, in next week’s semi-final in Ballindine.
Hollycarra opened the scoring with a third minute point but Dylan Gallagher hammered home a Davitts goal two minutes later after great work from the impressive Ethan Boyle and Mark Birmingham. Dylan Gallagher (2) and Fionn McTigue fired over Davitts points but a 10th minute point and a goal scored a minute later by Hollycarra left the minimum between the sides.
Davitts took a firm grip on proceedings for the remainder of the half. Dylan O Brien, Ronan Kelly and Ethan Boyle pointed in the next ten minutes and in the 24th minute Davitts centre back Conor McDermott goaled after a searing run through the Hollycarra defence. Mark Birmingham added a point in the 27th minute with Hollycarra pulling two points back in the 29th and 30th minutes. The last score of the half was another Davitts goal with Fionn McLoughlin spectacularly volleying home a lovely Dylan Gallagher pass to leave Davitts ahead by 3-7 to 1-4 at the break.
Fionn McLoughlin started the second half with another brilliant goal this time cleverly flicking the ball to the net after some neat play by Conor McDermott and Ciaran Treacy. Hollycarra pointed in the 35th and 37th minutes but Davitts captain Dylan Gallagher scored another spectacular goal in the 40th minute, firing home an unstoppable drive from twenty metres with Mark Birmingham supplying the assist. The game fizzled out with just two more points, one for each side, before referee Eamon McAndrew’s final whistle, with Brian Corless getting the Davitts score.
Davitts had fine performances from Tadhg Feerick, Sean Keadin, Conor McDermott, Ethan Boyle, Mark Birmingham, Fionn McLoughlin and Dylan Gallagher.
