Michael Walsh SFL v Charlestown match report
Davitts 0-6 Charlestown 5-13
A very impressive Charlestown team made light work of the challenge of Davitts in the Michael Walsh League game played in Ballindine on Friday evening. Their razor sharp forwardline moved the ball quickly and directly and, led by Gareth O Donnell, Matthew Lenihan and Patrick Goldrick , they gave the Davitts defence a torrid time all through the game.
Three well taken first half goals, giving Davitts keeper Keith Prendergast no chance, via Gareth O Donnell, Matthew Lenihan and Rory Cullen put Charlestown in command of the game and they led by 3-6 to 0-3 at the break.
Davitts had lost Ronan McNamara with a hand injury at this stage and they struggled to win any worthwhile possession around the midfield area in his absence. Charlestown never let their foot off the pedal and they added two further goals in the second half from Gareth O Donnell and Jack Reilly to run out the easy winners.
Enda McLoughlin, Thomas Goldrick, Niall Murphy, Jack Reilly, Matthew Lenihan, Patrick Goldrick and Gareth O Donnell were in top form for Charlestown.
Cathal Higgins, Dmitry Trench, Tommy Waldron, Jack Ronayne, Jack Devane and Fenton Kelly were best for Davitts.
