Juniors v Knockmore – Match Report
The Junior team made the journey to Knockmore on Sunday and were defeated, 1-9 to 1-5, after a very competitive game played in very difficult windy conditions.
Davitts played with the assistance of the strong wind in the first half but failed to take full advantage of it and led by a single point 0-5 to 0-4 at the break, with John Costello (2) and Shane Treacy (3) the scoregetters.
Davitts played much better in a low scoring second half but Knockmore tagged on a goal and two points to lead by four before a superb Shane Treacy goal in the 54th minute narrowed the gap to the minimum. Three late points by the homeside saw them through but they were made to work very hard by the battling Davitts side.
Micheal Mangan was impressive in goals and all of the backs defended heroically. William Freeley and Shane Mitchell did well at midfield while up front Shane Treacy had another excellent game.
