Juniors v Kiltane – Match Report
Davitts Junior team hosted Kiltane in the County B Championship on Sunday and emerged victorious on a 2-12 to 0-4 scoreline, after an excellent display of football. Davitts, after a slow start, began to dominate the visitors in all sectors of the field and raced into a 1-9 to 0-2 lead at halftime. The very impressive Darren Connolly got the goal as the Davitts attack linked superbly. Tommy Mitchell (scaling new heights) and John Heneghan were in dominant form at midfield in that first half and they carried that form into the second half as Davitts defended their lead well. The icing on the cake for the homeside came in the last seconds of the game when Adrian McNamara supplied crowd pleaser Pat Hopkins with a delightful pass and the deadly Hopper finished with aplomb.
Davitts had stars all over the field but the performances of William Freeley, the three Clarke brothers, Mark Ronayne, Tommy Mitchell, John Heneghan, the versatile JP Kirrane, Seamus Roche, Darren Connolly and Clive Hennigan were exceptional.
