Juniors v Kilmovee – Match Report
Davitts 3-3 Kilmovee Shamrocks 1-9
Davitts hosted league leaders Kilmovee Shamrocks in Div 4 of the Senior League Div 4 on Sunday and, after a hard fought match, the spoils were shared. The game was played in terrible conditions with the wind and rain doing its best to spoil a tough competitive match.
Davitts, aided by the wind in the first half, led by 1-3 to 0-4 at halftime. Liam Noone (2) and Sean Waldron shot the points with the goal coming from Seamus Roche after excellent work by Ryan McLoughlin and Darragh McGale.
Kilmovee tagged on three nice points after the break and when they goaled it looked like they were set to push on and win. Davitts had other ideas however and Seamus Roche was on hand to boot home his second goal after Liam Noone and Stephen Nyland had done the spadework. Kilmovee responded with a point but Davitts, showing great determination, strung another lovely move together involving Seamus Roche, Darragh McGale, Tom Corless and Shane Treacy, before the latter was taken down in the penalty area. Liam Noone showed great bottle to smash home the penalty kick and put his side a point ahead.
Kilmovee had the final say and a superbly struck free kick levelled the match at the death. A draw was probably a fair result after a very competitive game reffed sensibly by Mark Tuffy.
