Juniors v Kilmovee – Match Report
Davitts Juniors were defeated by Kilmovee Shamrocks by 2-14 to 0-10 in the County B Championship in Kilmovee on Saturday evening. Davitts were missing several players (five of the starting team that beat Eastern Gaels the previous week were unavailable) but this game marked the return of Declan Healy and he showed that he is a player of real quality when introduced midway through the first half for the injured team captain JP Kirrane.
Kilmovee led by 0-7 to 0-4 at half time with Davitts scores coming from David Cosgrove, Shane Mitchell and the lively Evan Ronayne (2).
Davitts started off the second half with real purpose and points from Declan Healy and Maurice Prendergast narrowed the gap to a single point after five minutes but a Kilmovee goal two minutes later put the homeside on their way and they never looked back. A second goal ten minutes from time sealed the issue. Davitts never gave up and John Costello, Declan Healy and Evan Ronayne (2) added points before the finish. Best for Davitts were David Mitchell, John Costello, Lawrence Daly, William Freely, Shane Treacy, Evan Ronayne and Declan Healy.
