juniors v Kilmaine–SMJC – Match Report
Davitts hosted Kilmaine in the South Mayo Junior Championship on Wednesday evening but it was the visitors who took the spoils after a 4-13 to 2-8 victory.
Davitts had led by 2-6 to 2-5 at the break but the Kilmaine side’s superior fitness saw them pull away in the second half.
Mattie Trench scored both Davitts goals after two fine sweeping moves involving several players. Clive Hennigan (0-5) and Richie Kilkenny (0-1) were proving to be more than a handful for the Kilmaine defence in the first half.
Kilmaine took over in the second half and ran out deserving winners. Next up for Davitts is an away game against local rivals Claremorris next Wednesday.
