Juniors v Hollymount-Carramore – Match Report
Davitts Junior team continued their good run of form with a 1-13 to 0-8 victory over Hollymount Carramore in the South Mayo Junior Championship in Ballindine on Wednesday evening. Davitts had led by 0-6 to 0-4 after a closely fought opening half but a very strong third quarter saw the homeside put some daylight between the sides, as Clive Hennigan, Darren Connolly, Seamus Roche and the hugely impressive Cathal Hennelly began to terrorise the visitor’s defence. It was Hennigan who slotted the vital goal after excellent work by Connolly after 40 minutes.
While the Davitts attack flourished in the second half, the entire defence was superb throughout with William Freeley giving a man of the match performance at corner back. David Mitchell pulled off some great saves in goals and Laurence Daly, Tommy Clarke, Johnno Clarke and Mark Ronayne defended superbly.
