Juniors v Garrymore – Match Report

Davitts Junior’s powered their way into the South Mayo Final with an impressive 3-14 to 0-10 victory over Garrymore in sunny Ballindine on Wednesday. Three first half goals expertly converted by rampaging centre back Brian Clarke, who netted twice, and Aidan McTigue gave the visitors a mountain to climb in the second period as Davitts led by 3-5 to 0-6 at the break. Davitts had suffered an early setback when midfielder Shane Mitchell and team captain Seamus Roche clashed heads, requiring both players to be replaced.

Davitts spurned some gilt edged goal chances that could have seen them win by a greater margin. They tagged on nine points in the second half to win convincingly. Davitts will meet the winners of the Claremorris v Hollymount Carramore semi-final in the South A final while Garrymore will face the losers of that game in the B final.

Best for Davitts were William Freeley, Brian Clarke, Liam Macken, Liam Noone, Darragh McGale, Aidan McTigue and Tommy Clarke.
