Juniors v Crossmolina – Match Report
Davitts defeated Crossmolina by 2-8 to 2-4 in a well contested Senior League Div 4 game played in Ballindine on Sunday.
Crossmolina had led by 1-3 to 0-4 at the break but Davitts inspired by the outstanding James Cummins, John Costello, Jordan Flanagan, William Freeley, Niall Kearns and Shane Treacy began to gain the upperhand in the second half and a Shane Treacy goal, created by some excellent play from Jordan Flanagan, Cian Naughton and Liam Noone, swung the game in the homeside’s favour.
A second goal by William Freeley, a clinical finish after another sweeping move, put Davitts five points up but the visitors fought back well. A goal and a point from Crossmolina saw Davitts lead by just a point with five minutes remaining but points from Liam Noone, Seamus Roche and Niall Kearns saw Davitts gain a four point victory.
This was a good team performance and the subs introduced in the second half all played a crucial role in the victory.
