Juniors v Charlestown – Match Report
Davitts continued to push for the Senior League Div 1D title with a very good 1-14 to 1-6 away victory over Charlestown on Saturday evening. Wind assisted Davitts led by 0-8 to 1-3 at halftime and would have been the more worried of the two sides at the break after conceding 1-2 in the latter stages of the first half. Davitts pointscorers in that half were Liam Noone (3), Johnno Clarke (2), Seamus Roche, Carlos O Gara and Mark Ronayne.
Charlestown looked dangerous at the beginning of the second half but the introduction of Andrew Peters, the outstanding Thomas Waldron, Donal Ronayne and Cathal Higgins tilted the game firmly in Davitts direction. Points from Johnno Clarke, Seamus Roche, Liam Noone (2) and Thomas Waldron and a great goal from Johnno Clarke put paid to the homeside’s efforts and kept Davitts joint top of this competitive division.
While everyone played their part in this win, the performances of Will.I.Am Freeley, Juan Pablo Kirrane, Padraig Mangan, big John Heneghan, Johnno Clarke, Seamus Roche, Liam Noone, Donal Ronayne and Thomas Waldron were particularly noteworthy.
