Juniors v Castlebar C
Davitts 3-21 | Castlebar 1-6
Davitts Junior Team had an emphatic 3-21 to 1-6 victory over Castlebar Mitchels in the County Junior B Championship in Ballindine on Saturday evening. Davitts were in the driving seat from the throw in with midfielders Sean Waldron and William Freeley dominating and JP Kirrane, Liam Noone and Darren Connolly terrorising the Mitchels defence.
Davitts had built up a 0-14 to 0-2 lead at the break with points from Noone (6), Connolly (6), Juan Pablo Kirrane and Tammy Clarke. Early in the second half Castlebar staged a mini revival but a Johnno Clarke goal put paid to that. Davitts added a series of points through Connolly (2), Kirrane (2), Noone (2) and Shane Mitchell and two goals from Noone and Connolly completed the Davitts impressive tally.
Davina Mitchell was safe in goals and in front of him Brian Clarke, John Costello and Ger McWalter formed a solid full back line. Laura Daly, Michael Ronayne and James Cummins were in uncompromising form on the half back line. Sean Waldron was probably the man of the match and Will I am Freeley worked tirelessly alongside him at midfield. Tommy and Johnno Clarke, JP Kirrane and Shane Mitchell impressed in attack but Liam Noone and Darren Connolly were the stars of the show bagging 1-8 each. Patrick Keadin was very lively looking when sprung from the bench and Tommy Mitchell, John Heneghan, Caolan Devane and Shane Treacy all played their part in this victory.
