Juniors v Ballintubber – Match Report
Davitts Junior team got their Division 4 league campaign back on tracks with an impressive 1-21 to 2-9 victory over Ballintubber in Ballindine on Saturday evening.
Davitts, playing with the breeze in the first half, went in at the break ahead by 1-9 to 2-4. Liam Kearns (4), Mattie Trench, Shane Mitchell, Tommy Clarke, Dara O Flaherty and Liam Noone were the point scorers with Dara O Flaherty goaling after good work by John Kilkenny.
Ballintubber started the second half brightly but the Davitts defence contained the Tubber forwards well. Shane Mitchell and Johnno Clarke began to dominate around midfield, while the forwards shot twelve points in an excellent display of teamwork, through Liam Kearns (7), Tommy Clarke, Brian Clarke, Dara O Flaherty, Mattie Trench and Paul Carey to ease Davitts relegation worries.
Outstanding for Davitts were Brian Clarke, James Cummins, Shane Mitchell, Mattie Trench, Liam Kearns, Dara O Flaherty and John Kilkenny.
