Juniors v Ballinrobe – Match Report
Davitts Juniors travelled to Ballinrobe on Wednesday evening and came away with a very hard earned 3-13 to 3-9 win after an exciting match. Three fine first half goals from the razor sharp Richie Kilkenny (2) and the impressive Clive Hennigan had Davitts ahead by 3-5 to 1-5 at half time. Clive Hennigan (3), Richie Kilkenny and Gerald Griffin scored the Davitts points.
Ballinrobe narrowed the gap with two points and a second converted penalty after ten minutes of the second half. Patrick Keadin received a second yellow card following the rewarding of the penalty and Davitts looked in trouble. Some fine points by Clive Hennigan (2), John Kilkenny, Richie Kilkenny and Micheal Mangan extended Davitts lead to five points but another Ballinrobe goal, directly from a long range free, left the game finely balanced in the closing stages. Davitts finished strongly and Gerald Griffin, Clive Hennigan and sub Daniel Huane all pointed late on as Davitts won by four points.
